Immunology & experimental strategy
Immunology consulting
& experimental strategy
Immunology consulting for academic research groups, biotech and pharma teams developing a research programme, planning experiments or evaluating findings.
Discuss your projectThe question we start with
Does our study design address the biological question, and which assays or models should we consider?
I help turn a broad research idea into a testable hypothesis, assess suitable models and readouts, and identify controls and limitations before the study is underway. My wet-lab and computational experience connects experimental planning to how the results will be analysed.
Methods and areas of expertise
Cancer immunology, inflammatory disease, NK cells, innate lymphoid cells and T cells. Experience with flow cytometry, microscopy, cell lines, primary immune cells, organoids and mouse models informs assay and model selection.
What you receive
- A review of the research question and proposed study
- Recommendations for models, assays, readouts and controls
- A written assessment of key limitations and interpretation risks
- A prioritised experimental plan and discussion with your team
The exact inputs, deliverables, fee and milestones are agreed in a written scope before work starts.
A useful first step
Start with a focused review.
Start with a focused study-design review: bring your research question and a non-confidential outline of the proposed approach. We can agree a bounded review before considering ongoing support.

My research spans immune-cell development and the role of innate lymphoid cells in cancer.

About me
I’m Dr Sophie Curio, a PhD immunologist with research experience at Imperial College London, Harvard Medical School and The University of Queensland, and a current part-time role in Carlo Pulitano’s group at the University of Sydney. I combine experimental context with computational expertise to evaluate what a result supports and what remains uncertain.
