My background

My background in wet-lab immunology shapes the way I work with data. I want to understand the experimental setup, the strengths and limitations of the model, and the biological question before deciding which analysis will be useful.

Through Curio Science, I provide immunology consulting, bioinformatics analysis and research strategy support. I work directly with scientists and research teams, including teams without an internal bioinformatician.

Research experience

Current · 0.2 FTE

The University of Sydney

A part-time position in Carlo Pulitano’s group alongside my consulting work. My work includes analysis of transcriptomic, metabolomic and lipidomic data in the context of liver transplants, alongside biological interpretation.

2024–present

Curio Science

Founder & bioinformatics consultant. Sequencing analysis, reproducible workflows, biological interpretation and immunology research strategy.

2021–2024

The University of Queensland

Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Immune-cell mechanisms in cancer and inflammatory disease, computational workflows and collaborative research.

2017–2021

Imperial College London

Doctoral research in immunology, investigating immune cells and receptors in inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer.

2016

Harvard Medical School

Research internship involving experimental vaccine research.

The University of Sydney is a current research affiliation; Imperial, Harvard Medical School and UQ are previous research affiliations.

Building CellScope alongside consulting

CellScope is my separate software project focused on reproducible workflows and reducing repetitive analysis work. Curio Science remains the home of my independent consulting, and I continue to take on projects.

Beyond the lab

I’m a glider pilot and flight instructor, and I enjoy ultrarunning. My interest in data also extends to Australian climate and gliding conditions, national parks and ECG modelling.
